Dear Rice High School Parents and Students:

Welcome to the 2005-2016 school year! Each year we strive to improve our ever changing programs and we are proud of our success, and we look forward to another exciting and productive school year. As in the past, our focus is to exceed our previous years’ accomplishments in all academic subjects. This goal can be achieved with your continued support. We value your input and look forward to a quality parent-school working relationship to grow and build upon our successes.
We will continue to incorporate more academic rigor into our instructional programs as we hope to increase our state mandated scores. When students learn in a safe and nurturing environment, they strive to attain exceptionally high levels of academic achievement, this is our goal at RHS. We also realize that our student body is diverse, and we applaud the many different cultural backgrounds and varying academic levels we serve. We continually focus on giving each student the opportunities to meet with success in all of their academic and personal endeavors at Rice High School.
To the parents of our 9th grade students, joining us for the first time this fall, we welcome you. We look forward to your arrival and getting to know each of you and know that we as a staff are here for you. We know that the transition to high school can be filled with both challenges and opportunities, but that through the collaborative efforts of faculty, upper class students, and parents/guardians at home, we can make this a smooth and gratifying experience.
Rice High School is an open and responsive learning community. As such, we believe a parent should always feel comfortable contacting a child’s teacher with any questions or concerns related to a particular class. Earning the right to call ourselves a great school will require determination and commitment to see that all students, regardless of who they are and how they come to us, leave better prepared to meet the next set of life’s challenges.
Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or issues that may arise throughout this school year, my door is always open for both students and parents. Be sure to keep up with all school activities via our campus and district website as well as on twitter @ricehsraiders.
